Chairman’s Christmas Letter

The Home and Palliative Care team discuss all the options with the patient (see picture)

As most of our supporters will know, we started the year without a Treasurer.  Peter Clark had served Friends of Ludhiana for 20 years as our financial advisor.  He had visited CMC and that visit inspired his passion to continue to support the institution.  He died quite suddenly in December 2023 and is survived by his wife, Ann, and two adult children.  I am pleased to report that we were able to appoint a new Treasurer at our AGM in June 2024.  David Forbes has spent almost two years from October 2000 to June 2002 at CMC helping with the finances, and he personally knows several of the leaders within CMC.

One of the ‘blessings’ of Covid has been the development of virtual meetings.  Prior to Covid, the Council meetings of Friends of Ludhiana were usually held in London with Trustees giving their time to attend the meetings in person. During Covid, we met via virtual meetings on Zoom and this has allowed us to appoint other Trustees, who would find it difficult to attend a face-to-face meeting in London.  In the past year the appointment of six new trustees was approved at our Annual General Meeting.  Four of the new trustees are alumni of CMC.  The trustees live in various parts of the United Kingdom – including Devon, Scotland and Lincolnshire – but we find meeting via Zoom is practical and efficient

As a Council, we have met three times via Zoom in the past year.  On our third meeting we were fortunate to have Dhruv Ghosh join us since he was visiting the UK. He was able to give us a first-hand account of the situation at CMC.  William Bhatti [Director] has also visited the UK twice.  On the second occasion he met a few Friends of Ludhiana trustees over dinner in London.

We continue to actively support CMC in prayer, and we have asked William to give us some idea of his priorities for financial support in the coming year.

I thank all our supporters for their continued help, and  I wish you all a joyous Christmas and Happy New Year.

Dr Keith R Hine

Chairman Friends of Ludhiana
